Ballyhoo! has been touring the country in their pimp conversion van, spreading the music from coast to coast in support of their 2006 release "Do It For the Money!". Selling over 6,000 hard copies and more than 20,000 downloads through iTunes and various other digital stores worldwide, the band shows no signs of stopping.
With a new record set for launch in early spring '08, the guys are planning to tour a lot more to support it. "We've been playing for so long, it'd be weird to stop now. 'Do It For the Money!' has really opened a lot doors for us and has spread like wildfire in the underground", says frontman Howi Spangler. The band looks forward to getting back on the road to rock the new songs for the core fans, "I can't wait for people to hear the new stuff", says Howi, "we've really taken what we've done in the past and built on top of it, adding more edge to the rock songs and more melody to the reggae. This record's got rock, reggae, acoustic, and even some power ballads!"
It's only going to get bigger for Ballyhoo!, so keep your ears to the ground. The sky is NOT the limit. Look for the band to be in your town in 2008. And if you get a hold of the music, burn it and give to your friends!
Local artist Organix have been tearin' up the music seen here in Wilmington. With a style like no other. They play a mix between hip hop and jazz and have a very full sound. Nantucket w/ Polar Bear Blues Band featuring Harvey Arnold 10:00:00 PM - 12:00:00 AM
The band called "Nantucket" has entertained hundreds of thousands of people over the last 30 years and have six albums to their credit. They are a group that catches the audiences' attention and keeps it with its versatile lineup of six musicians. The group was formed in 1972 and still has four of the six original members. Nantucket is Larry and Mike Uzzell, Tommy Redd and Eddie Blair.
Untold thousands of Carolina residents grew up with Nantucket's albums and now have families of their own. The sax players rendition of "Shotgun" by Jr. Walker and the All Stars is something that has to be seen live.
From Larry Uzzell's lead vocals, trumpet and harmonica playing to Tommy Redd's amazing humor and song writing, Nantucket doesn't let up for the entire show.
So if you're still wondering.... Yeah this is the same Nantucket that you heard in the seventies and eighties!! Come down and check out a legendary Rock and Roll band in an up close and personnel venue, and let your hair down and and let your feet start slappin' to the classic sounds of "Nantucket". Also opening the night will be "Old Money", veteran musician Walt Metts and Son (Eric)playing classic and alternative rock form the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. And leading into Nantucket will be Justin Fox and Friends.... need I say more? All this being said, it is going to be a show that you don't want to miss!!
